Hello all.

One of the keys to the growth of United Prosperity is getting our name out there, whether it be through blogs, journalists, or friends. We would love to hear any perspective or ideas on how to improve our efforts with this. To start, how did you all hear about United Prosperity? Knowing this could be valuable in terms of focusing our efforts going forward. Thanks!

Jake

I recently posted a reply here,
if you have some user experience with United Prosperity
and want to share it, its possible to do a follow up.
I am today writing to all Indian restaurants in Norway that i can find email adresse too (about 30) Feel free to copy the idea:

This is the letter i have sent them:

United Prosperity is a non-profit organization that helps you combat global poverty effectively by multiplying the impact of your money through loan guarantees. We are the world’s first person to person loan guaranteeing website.

For the first time its possible for people outside India to help with Microfinance in India ! The World Bank estimates that 456 million Indians (42% of the total Indian population) now live under the global poverty line of $1.25 per day (PPP). http://unitedprosperity.org/blogs/team/

Can YOU help people in India by investing §25 dollar in http://www.unitedprosperity.org and /or by telling your friends about the website ?

You should write a (monthly) press message and try get information posted on various internett sites covering microfinance.

Use google to find sites: serach for p2p lending microfinance

example : http://prosperlending.blogspot.com
more sites if you click writers on http://prosperlending.blogspot.com/2008/03/eleven-perspectives-on-p...
Try to send a personal mesage to all the members of the Facebook group
and asks them for help to marketing the Facebook group
I take my hat off to you Sverre, as you seem to have never ending energy and ideas about promoting what you believe in.

I like the idea of writing to Indian restaurants and local Indian newspapers. As I am not sure what main message UP wants to get across, I wonder if there is a type of template that you would like to go out.

While we can all go about and create lots of activity, I wonder if there is anything in particular that is known to be most effective - i.e. where or how do we get most bang for our buck?
Wikipedia, home of all information! Prospective lenders may go there to find out about the site. Could someone load a creative commons UP logo and perhaps a photo of Bhalchander Vishwanath to Wikipedia? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Uploading_images

Happy to write up an entry for both - but images have to be loaded separately. Equally happy if someone beats me to it.
Hi all - this is my first comment here

Well, there used to be a link to UP on the "person-to-person lending" Wikipedia page (alongside the kiva link in the "interational" section) which, however, seems to have been removed again. It was actually that link which brought me to UP. I guess, the reason for the removal was that UP doesn't yet have it's own Wikipedia page to link to (kiva has it's own page, of course). I suspect the Wikipedia folks might see UP as not yet important or big enough to warrant it's own page but what about a generic "person-person loan garanties" page which then could mention UP as a special case? Just a thought...

I have created several pages on wikipedia and United Prosperity definitely belongs there. If it is removed or vandaliised. we put it back up again.

The correct license for any of our images is 'fair use' - defined here:

Fair use is a doctrine in United States copyright law that allows limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders, such as use for scholarship or review.

That means no copyright is compromised.

These are all great suggestions. Working on the wikipedia page, getting facebook members to spread the word, writing press messages and commenting on relevant blogs, and making connections with Indian communities/restaurants.

It's great to have you all so engaged and willing to help. Keep up the great work!

I'll do my best as well.

By the way, this is not an effort to conclude this discussion! Keep any suggestions and comments coming!

Thanks all,

Jake
I think I can see an issue which could be a way to introduce the concept of micro-lending and United Prosperity to a reasonably wide audience and will try for a radio interview, Might come to nothing but is anyone from United Prosperity keen to be interviewed?
Grant - I will be happy to do the interview. I am on the west coast (Pacific time zone). You could send me a text message at 925-408-0729 if it gets confirmed. I could then dial in or call the radio station. Thanks once again.
The wikipedia entry has been deleted several times. Koji Tucker was planning to write a separate entry for United Prosperity and P2P guarantees. The web traffic takes a dip every time the wikipedia entry gets deleted.
