Do you know if United Prosperity is still in business? I have sent several emails and the emails are returned with the note that the mailbox is full. I have not been fully repaid and I'm wondering if other individuals are in the same situation. If you know anything, please contact me at email@example.com
Welcome to UnitedProsperity.org! I understand the challenges you faced on signing up on two sites. This has befuddled many people. We will have a message clarifying this. Eventually we will also a build an integrated community site where one just needs one sign on.
Thanks for your feedback on the instance of incorrect English. We will correct it quickly. We appreciate your patience, being a young organization we certainly have our share of challenges.
Welcome and enjoy your stay here. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
I met once a young Indian Lady ; her name was... Maria... because she was Catholic ! I don't know n body in India (nor elsewere ; I'm a bear) ; but Indians with Christian names are, I think..., Christians...
I have to read each page here before lending (« lending » is a too big word for me... I earn only 500 $ a month...). This site is wonderful ! I registered first in UP.org, then tried to join Christians Group ; one hour later, I had no hair anymore... then, I must register also to a UP.ning.com which knew nothing about me... And now, I see that some data were lost during last hours... Do they speak English here ? A better English than mine ? see my Profile : « Why helping enterprenuers is important for me? » Is « enterprenuers » an English word or a Gujarati one ?
Christians are only 2.5 % among Indians ; but there, 2.5 % is about... 24 000 000 ! a great Parish ! Yes, I think we can create a « Catholic UP » as we have in Kiva and try to find some Catholic people (perhaps Catholic Indians are among the richest Indians ?) In Wikipedia, they tell about Catholic Churcjes in India ; maybe if we (you) write to them, asking for information about « their » poor members, where to find them, telling them the may make loans ?...
Welcome, and thanks for joining the U.P. Christian group.
I totally agree with you as to the problems with this site. United Prosperity is a new organization, though, and they have come a long way. It was even more disorganized and "chaotic" before. But as with any new organization, there are lots of growing pains. I guess for me what is really important is that the people who need the resources are getting them.
As to lending to Catholics only, I'm not sure if United Prosperity is set up for that. The loans generally go out to groups of 4 or 5 people (usually women). I do not see why a group of Catholic Indian women couldn't get together and apply for a group loan. The difficulty would be in identifying them.
DO you know of any Catholics who are living in India?? Maybe if we had a contact there, they could help organize and identify a group of Catholics who would want a loan.
Let me know and I will see if we can get something happening along these lines. I think that when anyone gets help (Catholics, Hindus, Muslims, or whatever), it helps everyone, so maybe we can get a Catholic lending group happening.
